Chonnam National University Hospital Launches 'Senior Cosmedicare Demonstration Center'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Lee Sam-yong) is set to actively promote the establishment of a Senior Cosmedical Care Demonstration Center to lead the future 4th Industrial Revolution.
On the 22nd, Jeonnam National University Hospital announced that Professor Kim Sung-jin's team was finally selected as the lead institution for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 2020 New Industrial Innovation Infrastructure Project.
Accordingly, the project will be carried out in cooperation with Gwangju Technopark, Gwangju Senior-Friendly Industry Support Center, and Gwangju Cosmetics Industry Promotion Association.
The cosmedical care industry is a high value-added new concept industry that creates personalized functional beauty products and services by developing cosmeceutical materials and products?highly functional cosmetics with clinically proven efficacy?and advanced technology-converged customized beauty devices.
In particular, rapid growth of the domestic cosmetics market is expected due to increased consumption among people in their 20s and 30s and a surge in demand from the main consumer group of functional cosmetics aged 40 and above.
This project will be promoted over the next four years with a total budget of 18 billion KRW (8 billion KRW from the national government, 8 billion KRW from Gwangju Metropolitan City, and 2 billion KRW from private sector contributions), aiming to establish a one-stop system supporting the entire process from discovering demand to commercialization.
Jeonnam National University Hospital will build a clinical efficacy evaluation demonstration base and establish a testing system linked with demonstration support and medical big data as part of this project.
Through this project, it is expected to develop technologies and products that can proactively respond to future cosmedical care industry demands, thereby securing national growth engines and global competitiveness.
Economically, it is anticipated to nurture about 300 senior cosmedical care convergence companies, achieving annual sales of around 100 billion KRW and creating approximately 800 new jobs.
