[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] 'Intake' launched 'Innocent Veggie Ball,' a food tech-based alternative meat product, on the 22nd.
Innocent is a native alternative meat brand launched by Intake. The first product, 'Innocent Veggie Ball,' is characterized by its flavor, texture, and juiciness, which closely resemble meatballs. This was achieved by applying a patented compression molding technology that generates protein fiber structures from chickpeas and peas.
Han Nok-yeop, CEO of Intake, stated, "Innocent Veggie Ball is made from nine kinds of vegetables, making it suitable for vegans as well as the general public to enjoy healthily. Intake aims to elevate the domestic alternative meat standards to a global level through additional technological development."
According to Intake, Innocent Veggie Ball is a B2C product but is also being used as a B2B ingredient before its official release. Currently, it is being developed as a vegan salad menu in collaboration with the salad specialty company 'Sweet Balance' and is sold on Market Kurly.
Recently, Intake was finally selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 'Development Project for Korean-style Alternative Meat Food Using Domestic Agricultural Products' through the 'Soymaru' consortium with the research team of Professor Choi Young-jin from Seoul National University's Food Engineering Laboratory. Accordingly, until 2022, they are actively developing compression molding technology for alternative meat and dietary fiber separation technology, as well as materials that can implement various meat flavors.
