On the 21st broadcast of SBS variety show 'Burning Youth', the members were shown heading to Ganghwa Island, Incheon. High-teen star Song Eun-young, known for the youth drama 'Na', joined as a new friend.
On that day, it was decided that a new friend would join, and the youth members received a hint in the form of a '1996 TV program schedule'. The schedule included various nostalgic programs in which some members had appeared.
Choi Min-yong focused on the drama 'Na', which starred both Choi Kang-hee and Heo Young-ran, who had been mentioned as potential new friends. Choi Min-yong, who went alone to pick up the new friend, said with excitement, "I have three candidates in my mind."
The new friend was actress Song Eun-young. Choi Min-yong, who had appeared in the same drama, reunited and embraced his junior Song Eun-young after 24 years.
When asked, "How popular were you back then?" Song Eun-young replied, "When we first started filming, it was during vacation, so there were no friends at school. I didn’t really feel the popularity, but when I took a break and went out to Myeong-dong, suddenly a crowd of people came rushing. It was unfamiliar, so I ran away. After filming, when I went to school, there were fans even in front of the school gate. Now I’m grateful, but back then I didn’t know what to do, so I just froze."
She then told Choi Min-yong, "I was worried you might feel uncomfortable because of me," revealing that in the past, Choi Min-yong used to visit the filming site every day because of another actress who appeared in 'Na'.
Song Eun-young recalled with laughter, "Oppa didn’t film with us, but he came to the set every day. We didn’t work on the same project, but oppa went to the movie theater with me. There were three of us then. They were crying together, but only that person was given tissues,"
Choi Min-yong had previously mentioned on a variety show that he had a long-time crush on an actress. He said, "The filming location was in Mansu-dong, Incheon, right? There wasn’t a single day I didn’t take that friend home, except for one day, which was the day my father passed away. That’s how much I loved her," drawing attention.
Song Eun-young said, "Oppa came openly every day. Because he’s tall, I could see him from afar. Oppa was really cool back then. I thought celebrities were different," reminiscing.
When Song Eun-young arrived at the dorm, she looked visibly nervous. When the members asked, "How have you been?" she said, "I worked a lot. I also ran a shopping mall selling women’s clothes. At first, I never did part-time jobs, but after turning thirty, I tried my first part-time job. I was searching for a job."
She continued, "My health hasn’t been good. My immune system is weak, so I always have to be careful. This time, I went back to my hometown after 21 years to eat my mom’s food," she confessed.
In response, Choi Min-yong said, "You don’t have to worry today. There are many older sisters here, so you can eat food like mom’s."
Looking at the members, Song Eun-young said, "It feels like looking at celebrities," and added, "Why are celebrities talking to me?"
