Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Promotes Amendment to the Firefighting Facility Installation Business Act
Mandatory Separate Contracting for Fire Protection Facility Construction
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) has started promoting the amendment to the "Firefighting Facilities Construction Business Act," which centers on the introduction of the separate ordering system for firefighting facilities construction.
According to Gwangsan Fire Station on the 20th, until now, when housing construction projects, construction work, electrical work, and information and communication work were contracted together with firefighting facilities construction, subcontracting of firefighting facilities construction was allowed.
As a result, firefighting companies have been burdened with losses from low-price bids by the primary contractor without bidding opportunities, which has been pointed out as one of the causes of poor construction.
To address these issues, the amendment, which will be implemented from September, mandates that firefighting facilities construction must be contracted separately from other types of construction work except in special cases, allowing specialized firefighting facilities contractors to receive contracts.
