June 25-26 First Surprise Inspection and July 9 Joint Surprise Inspection with Gwanak Police Station... Two Door-to-Door Sales Companies Violating Gathering Ban Order Detected, Reported to Gwanak Police Station on the 14th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has identified two door-to-door sales companies violating the assembly ban order aimed at preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and reported them to the Gwanak Police Station on the 14th.
Previously, the district implemented an assembly ban order on 18 door-to-door sales companies in the area that possess high-risk indoor facilities such as promotional centers and training rooms.
From June 25 to 26, the district conducted a first surprise inspection of the 18 companies subject to the assembly ban order, issuing 20 administrative guidance notices for minor violations of quarantine rules.
Subsequently, on July 9, a second surprise inspection was conducted jointly with the Gwanak Police Station targeting three companies with suspicious circumstances, resulting in the identification of two companies violating the assembly ban order.
It was confirmed that the companies caught during the inspection were holding health functional product briefings attended by many elderly individuals vulnerable to COVID-19 infection.
According to the strengthened "Special Sales Sector (Door-to-door Sales, Sponsorship Visits, Multi-level Marketing) Assembly Ban Order" announced by Seoul City on the 1st, Gwanak-gu prohibits ▲ gatherings for education, promotion, seminars for special sales purposes ▲ all similar assembly activities ▲ venue rental for illegal assembly activities outside business premises.
A district official explained, "Assembly activities such as door-to-door sales and multi-level marketing may result in penalties not only for sellers but also for users and venue providers," adding, "Citizen reports on illegal assembly activities are urgently needed."
In addition, since July 9, the district has designated three more door-to-door sales companies subject to the assembly ban order, currently enforcing the order on 21 companies possessing high-risk indoor facilities.
