Daegu City Holds Inauguration Ceremony for the 5th Children's Reporters Corps... 345 Students from Grades 4 to 6 Appointed
Online Event on the 17th at 4 PM
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 16th that it will hold the '2020 5th Daegu Children's Reporters Launch Ceremony' online at 4 p.m. on the 17th. The launch ceremony was originally scheduled for April but was postponed due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The event will include ▲ congratulatory messages from Daegu City ambassadors and others ▲ support messages from outstanding reporters of the 4th Children's Reporters ▲ oath-taking and aspirations of the Daegu Children's Reporters. It will be broadcast live on Daegu City's official YouTube channels, 'Colorful Daegu TV' and 'Daegu Children's Reporters' YouTube.
The 5th Daegu Children's Reporters consist of 345 students from 4th to 6th grade in local elementary schools and will be active for one year until December this year. Daegu City plans to actively support the children's creativity and love for their hometown by planning monthly special field reporting activities, providing article editing guidance, and offering reporter ethics education.
Earlier, the 5th Daegu Children's Reporters visited the National Daegu Science Museum in January and Daegu MBC in February. Since the spread of COVID-19 in the region, on-site reporting has been temporarily suspended. From March to June, they continued their reporter activities online through events such as the Cheer Up Daegu Drawing Contest, Stay-at-Home Challenge, and Thanks Challenge, encouraging people during the difficult times caused by COVID-19 and delivering warm news.
Since its launch in 2016, the Daegu Children's Reporters have increased their members annually, with 223 in the 1st group, 289 in the 2nd group in 2017, 302 in the 3rd group in 2018, and 385 in the 4th group in 2019.
Articles directly reported and written by the children reporters are published once a month on the third Thursday in the online 'Daegu Children's Newspaper.' Since 2018, an offline paper newspaper has also been published. Especially this year, the number of pages has increased by 4 pages to 16 pages compared to last year, and the circulation has increased from 3,000 to 5,000 copies, producing a richer newspaper.
