To the government saying "We will remove the Greenbelt"... Hong Jun-pyo says, "Kim Hyun-mi, review the measures after inspecting Cheongnyangni"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo criticized the government's indication of reviewing the release of the Greenbelt as "truly foolish," citing Cheongnyangni 588, once synonymous with red-light districts, as a model case.
On the 16th, Hong said on Facebook, "If we establish a new district unit plan for Gangbuk similar to Gangnam, significantly raise height restrictions and floor area ratios, greatly ease redevelopment and reconstruction regulations, and abolish the redevelopment and reconstruction excess profit recovery system, balanced development between Gangnam and Gangbuk can be achieved without releasing the Greenbelt or utilizing military sites."
Hong emphasized, "The Moon administration's real estate policy, which criminalizes existing property owners through punitive taxation and attempts indiscriminate expansion in Seoul with foolish supply measures, is truly foolish. When I was in Dongdaemun Eul, I closed the Cheongnyangni 588 red-light district and promoted the construction of 11 residential-commercial complex buildings with 65 floors, which has completely transformed the area."
