Safety Inspection for 836 Vulnerable Households in Yongsan-gu
Installation of Gas Timers and Fire Detectors, Distribution of Firefighting Supplies for Vulnerable Households Including Basic Livelihood Security Recipients, Near-Poverty Class, and Elderly Dementia Patients
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) will conduct gas and fire safety inspections and maintenance for 836 vulnerable households, including basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, and elderly dementia patients.
This is in accordance with Article 4 (Responsibilities of the State, etc.) of the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety.
The project includes ▲ installation of gas timers and safety inspections (309 households) ▲ installation of fire detectors and safety inspections (227 households) ▲ distribution of firefighting supplies (300 households), with a project budget of 55.85 million KRW (35.85 million KRW from city funds, 20 million KRW from district funds).
The gas timer is installed on the gas intermediate valve. When the preset time is reached, it sounds an alarm and automatically shuts off the valve, preventing gas stove safety accidents caused by forgetfulness.
The fire detector senses smoke generation inside the household and sounds an alarm to alert the surroundings of a fire. Since it operates on batteries, periodic battery replacement is necessary.
To select support targets, the district has been conducting preliminary demand surveys and on-site basic inspections centered on 16 neighborhood community centers and the Dementia Safety Center since May, finalized the target households last month, and signed contracts for related construction and supply purchases this month.
Gas timers will be installed by Seoul City Gas and Yesco, and fire detectors by Unitec Jeonseol. Firefighting supplies such as first aid kits, portable fire extinguishers, fire evacuation rescue towels, and yellow dust protective masks will be purchased by the district and distributed by each neighborhood.
Last year, the district also conducted gas and fire safety inspections for 1,084 vulnerable households.
