Dream Start Children, Sharing Love's Gift Boxes for a Happy Summer
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Residents of Igok Village, Nagan-myeon, Suncheon City, donated 60 "Gwonbun Boxes" on the 10th to participate in the Suncheon-style Gwonbun Movement promoted by Suncheon City to overcome COVID-19.
Suncheon City plans to deliver the 60 Gwonbun Boxes (including summer blankets), worth approximately 4 million KRW, received this time to children in vulnerable households.
On this day, Ahn Jung-hyun, the village chief who donated the Gwonbun Boxes on behalf of the residents, said, "We gathered the hearts of the residents to contribute even a little to the Dream Start children who are going through difficult times due to COVID-19."
Heo Seok, mayor of Suncheon City, expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank village chief Ahn Jung-hyun and the residents of Igok Village who are practicing neighborly love again this year following 2019." He added, "We will support Dream Start children to grow up healthily and be guaranteed equal starting opportunities."
Meanwhile, Igok Village in Nagan-myeon has 109 households with 222 residents and mainly produces Nagan pears and malt barley. It was selected as an "Energy Self-Reliant Village" in 2019.
