Changwon City, City Policy Research Institute Hold Community Meeting on 'Eco-Friendly Port City in the Hinterland of New Port'

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that the Changwon City Policy Research Institute held a local residents' meeting over two days from the 7th to the 9th to create an "Eco-friendly Port City in the Hinterland of the New Port."
The meeting gathered about 20 residents living in Ungdong 1 and 2-dong and Ungcheon-dong in Jinhae-gu. The institute emphasized the need to first listen to the opinions of local residents to minimize their damage and to share the economic benefits generated by the new port.
Accordingly, local residents expressed various opinions including ▲expansion of public transportation ▲resolution of illegal parking ▲improvement of road traffic networks ▲establishment of a general high school ▲establishment of higher education and special education institutions for nurturing port and logistics talents ▲construction of advanced medical institutions.

Jeon Su-sik, director of the Changwon City Policy Research Institute, said, “Jinhae has been the logistics hub of our country since the past, and to restore the forgotten identity of Jinhae and develop Changwon City as a Northeast Asia logistics hub city, we established the Changwon Port and Logistics Research Center to formulate a master plan. We will strengthen the city’s port and logistics capabilities and draw the blueprint for ‘Northeast Asia Logistics Platform Changwon.’”
