On the 8th, Bucheon Wonmi Police Station announced that at around 7:10 a.m., they received a report from residents about a 'thud' sound at an apartment complex in Jung-dong, Bucheon City, and are currently investigating. The police, who arrived on the scene along with the fire department, found Mr. Jin deceased at the location.
The police stated that although no suicide note was found at the scene, it was confirmed that Mr. Jin sent a message in the form of a suicide note via the KakaoTalk messenger to one of his acquaintances.
The police are presuming that Mr. Jin took his own life and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
Mr. Jin previously gained public attention by appearing on the tvN entertainment program "Hwaseongin Virus." At that time, he introduced himself on the show as "the most special man on Earth" and said, "I will become the richest person in the world in nine years."
Additionally, in 2012, he was arrested and prosecuted for stalking internet broadcaster Kim Eve and was sentenced to prison.
Meanwhile, following the news of Mr. Jin's death, so-called "cyber memorial altars" were set up on YouTube channels and other platforms to mourn him.
A police official explained, "The exact circumstances of the incident need to be investigated in detail, but currently, it is presumed to be a suicide, and an investigation has been launched."
