[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Gyeongju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, enrolled all citizens in bicycle insurance last February and decided to strengthen promotion to activate bicycle use.
According to Gyeongju City on the 8th, in preparation for accidents involving citizens using bicycles, the city enrolled in the "Gyeongju Citizen Bicycle Insurance" with DB Insurance Co., Ltd. for one year starting from last February for the first time this year.
Citizens residing in Gyeongju City (including foreigners) are automatically enrolled without any separate procedures or conditions. Insurance benefits can be received not only for accidents occurring within Gyeongju but also in other regions. The scope of insurance coverage includes accidents occurring while directly riding a bicycle, riding as a passenger without directly operating the bicycle, and accidental external injuries caused by a bicycle while traveling on the road.
The main coverage includes ▲ up to 10 million KRW in case of death or permanent disability due to a bicycle accident ▲ 200,000 to 600,000 KRW depending on the diagnosis period for injuries requiring treatment of 4 weeks or more ▲ an additional 200,000 KRW if hospitalized for 6 days or more after being diagnosed for 4 weeks or longer. As of the end of June, 38 Gyeongju citizens have benefited from the bicycle insurance.
