"51.3% Say 'Good Choice' for Park Ji-won as NIS Director... Lee In-young at 44.6%"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A public opinion poll revealed that more than half of the people view President Moon Jae-in's nomination of Park Ji-won as the Director of the National Intelligence Service positively. Opinions on the nomination of Lee In-young as Minister of Unification were evenly split between positive and negative evaluations.
Realmeter announced on the 8th that, in a survey conducted on the 7th commissioned by 'OhmyNews' regarding the evaluation of Park's nomination, 51.3% of respondents answered positively. Negative evaluations accounted for 39.9%, while 8.8% said they 'did not know well.'
By region, Park's positive evaluation was 71.4% in Gwangju Jeolla, his hometown, which influenced the overall positive rating. In contrast, Daegu-Gyeongbuk and Chungcheong provinces showed more negative evaluations.
By age group, those aged 70 and above had a higher negative evaluation at 53.6%, but other generations showed more positive evaluations.
Regarding Lee's nomination, positive evaluations were 44.6%, and negative evaluations were 39.9%. Those who said they 'did not know well' accounted for 15.5%. Lee also received a 63.6% positive evaluation in Gwangju Jeolla, but in Daegu-Gyeongbuk, 58.5% gave negative evaluations, showing a contrast.

This survey contacted 7,873 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, recording a response rate of 6.4%. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
