Stealth Core Technology Released to the Public
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] The military will disclose the development status of core technologies such as stealth. This is to promote civilian-led defense science and technology development in defense companies, academia, and research institutions.
On the 8th, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced that it will distribute a general version with an expanded disclosure scope of the '20-34 Core Technology Planning Document.'
The Core Technology Planning Document is a planning document that presents the development direction and acquisition plans for technologies that need to be focused on for weapon system development.
Due to the limited provision of information in the Core Technology Planning Document, the participation rate of private companies and research institutions in defense science and technology development was low. DAPA explained that while previously only the list of technologies was disclosed, the expanded general version will reveal comprehensive information on the status of core technologies for weapon system development.
Through this, companies can preliminarily identify what technologies are already under development and what technologies can be developed.
The general version includes not only defense strategic technology development plans in fields such as autonomous and artificial intelligence (AI)-based surveillance and reconnaissance, but also future technology development requirements such as manned and unmanned systems, ultra-high-speed high-power precision strikes, and stealth.

DAPA stated, "By expanding the scope of disclosure of the general version, we will actively attract excellent civilian technologies," and added, "We expect that the participation opportunities of industry, academia, and research institutions will be greatly activated from the technology planning stage, leading to revitalized company-centered weapon system research and development."
