SKT Rolls Up Sleeves for 'Good Consumption': "Earn Donation Credits When Purchasing with Membership Discounts"
T Membership Open Bakery, 'Happiness Credit' at 5GX Boost Park Partner Locations
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] SK Telecom has launched a win-win partnership marketing campaign to support small business owners in overcoming the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
SK Telecom announced on the 8th that it will run the "Happiness Credit" event until the end of October, where customers receive membership discounts at T Membership Open Bakery and 5GX Boost Park partner stores operated by small business owners, and the company accumulates donation funds per transaction.
Happiness Credit is a new concept donation program operated by SK Telecom. When customers purchase products from social enterprises or small and medium-sized merchants on platforms like 11st or SK Store, SK Telecom accumulates donation-exclusive points (credits) based on the customer's payment amount, and the accumulated points are fully donated to social contribution projects at the end of the year.
To support small business owners struggling due to decreased visitors and deteriorating profits amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, SK Telecom decided to expand the Happiness Credit program to include T Membership Open Bakery and 5GX Boost Park partner stores.
Customers can access the T Membership app to check 5GX Boost Park partner stores in 28 regions nationwide, download discount coupons, and use them when purchasing products and services at the stores, which automatically accumulates donation funds. However, using large partner stores or paper coupons does not accumulate Happiness Credit. Similarly, when using Open Bakery, customers can access the T Membership app to check Open Bakery stores, purchase products on-site, and receive T Membership discounts to automatically accumulate credits.
When customers use discount coupons at 5GX Boost Park partner stores, 1,004 credits are accumulated per transaction, and 500 credits per transaction are accumulated when paying at Open Bakery stores. One credit is equivalent to 1 Korean won in cash. However, if a purchase is canceled, the accumulation of Happiness Credit donation funds is also canceled.
Happiness Credit accumulation details are updated once a month and can be checked by customers in the T Membership app. Accumulated credits cannot be exchanged for cash or other points, nor can they be combined, and credits are not eligible for donation receipt issuance. SK Telecom plans to fully donate the accumulated funds at the end of the year to support programs for elderly people living alone and disabled youth.
To enhance convenience for 5GX Boost Park users and increase visitors to partner stores, SK Telecom will also create and distribute the "Boost Park Friends (SKT 5GX BOOST PARK FRIENDS)" logo, which allows customers to identify Boost Park partner stores. The operating regions and partner stores of 5GX Boost Park can be checked on the T Membership app or T World app.
Open Bakery is a membership program where SK Telecom partners with local bakery specialty stores nationwide to provide customers with discount benefits in support of small business owners. As of July, it has partnered with over 80 bakery specialty stores nationwide, offering T Membership customers a 10% discount on products purchased at these stores regardless of membership grade.
