Gwangju Nam-gu Selected for 'ICT-based Health Management Service Pilot Project' Competition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 6th that it has been selected for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 'ICT-based Senior Health Management Service Pilot Project' and secured 200 million KRW in national funding, introducing a non-face-to-face health management service using smartphones.
The ICT-based Senior Health Management Service Pilot Project is a project aimed at managing chronic diseases and improving health behaviors among seniors aged 65 and older who own smartphones.
To promote the pilot project, Nam-gu has formed a dedicated team of professionals including doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and exercise instructors working at the public health center, and plans to provide various services to about 600 seniors, including those under intensive management and regular management for visiting health care, starting from October.
In particular, the project will monitor weekly missions such as biometric information, drinking eight cups of water daily, checking blood pressure and blood sugar, and walking exercises for more than five days a week. It will also provide personalized information on chronic diseases and physical activities, along with non-face-to-face consultations with experts.
Additionally, each individual will be provided with a device (activity tracker), and through the linkage between the smartphone app and the device, personal exercise performance will be automatically transmitted, allowing users to check their health information in real time.

A Nam-gu official stated, “We will do our best to promote the project so that seniors can regularly measure blood pressure and blood sugar using devices in a non-face-to-face manner, receive expert assistance, improve chronic diseases and health behaviors, and lead a happy and dignified old age.”
