View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Han Seong-suk, CEO of Naver, and Yeo Min-soo, co-CEO of Kakao, visited the National Assembly and emphasized that government laws and regulations should be applied fairly between overseas platforms and domestic platforms.
CEO Han and co-CEO Yeo attended the launch ceremony of the 'Digital Economy Innovation Research Forum' held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 6th, and responded to questions about what the industry expects from the government and the National Assembly.
CEO Han said, "It would be good if the application of legal provisions between domestic companies and global companies in Korea is executed under the same standards," and emphasized, "It would be better if the standards are applied equally, not applied earlier just because it is a domestic company."
Co-CEO Yeo also pointed out, "Domestic platforms and foreign platforms such as YouTube and Facebook provide services simultaneously to Korean users, but the penalties imposed when violating regulations are not the same."
He added, "I do not want to go as far as to say it is a tilted playing field, but since foreign platforms are also dominating the domestic commerce sector, it seems necessary to refine government policies so that healthy competition can take place from the regulatory perspective."

Naver and Kakao shifted to a full remote work system as COVID-19 spread. Currently, Naver maintains a system of coming to the office twice a week and working from home three times a week. Kakao employees also come to the office once a week and work from home four times a week.
CEO Han said, "Remote work where all employees work from home was an unprecedented situation," and explained, "Naver started discussions on what tools are necessary for remote work and new work methods such as employee evaluation methods."

Co-CEO Yeo said, "Remote work can proceed well only when there is mutual trust between the crew (employees)," and added, "It was a valuable opportunity to confirm that once again."
