Emart24 Launches Exclusive Wine Brand 'Kkomo'
Two High-Quality, Cost-Effective Como Wines Sold at 9,900 KRW Each
Red Wine 'Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon', Sparkling White Wine 'Moscato'
Offering Representative Wines from Famous Regions for Under 10,000 KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Emart24 is launching a new exclusive wine brand called 'Como (COMO)' and expanding its wine lineup to offer representative wines from famous regions at affordable prices.
Emart24 announced on the 5th that it planned the wine series as wine consumption became more routine and popular, and more customers started purchasing wine at nearby convenience stores.
Como wine's concept is to offer a variety of wines from around the world at reasonable prices that anyone can enjoy, from beginners starting with wine to wine enthusiasts. Through this, customers can enjoy representative basic wines from famous wine regions such as Chile, Italy, Argentina, and France at prices under 10,000 won.
‘Como’ means the most comfortable and appropriate moment to enjoy wine. The brand name was selected through employee voting among seven naming candidates.
The first wines under the Como brand are Chilean ‘Como Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon’ (750ml) and Italian ‘Como Moscato’ (750ml).
Como Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine made by ‘Undurraga,’ a historic winery in Chile, using hand-harvested grapes and aged for 18 months after fermentation.
Como Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is a dry red wine with well-ripened fruit aromas and complex scents obtained through oak aging. It pairs well with meat dishes, cheese, pasta, and spicy foods.
Como Moscato is produced by the world-renowned Italian winery ‘Canti’ and is made from 100% Moscato, one of the grape varieties most favored by Koreans. Its rich fruit aroma and floral scent, combined with soft bubbles, add refreshing qualities. With a low alcohol content, it is a sweet wine that anyone can enjoy lightly. It pairs well with sweet desserts such as cakes and fruit tarts.
Both Como wines are priced at 9,900 won each. Emart24 explained, "By purchasing wine in large quantities to lower unit costs and through close collaboration with distributors, importers, and famous producers from each region, we were able to reduce profit margins and lower selling prices."
Previously, the ‘La Crasade’ wine, selected as ‘Wine of the Month’ last month, sold out the initial stock of about 19,000 bottles within half a month, and an additional 6,500 bottles brought in were also completely sold.
Emart24 is making efforts to establish itself as a specialized wine convenience store by expanding liquor specialty stores, partnering with wine curation company Wine Point for O2O services, and offering ‘Wine of the Month’ with 30% discounts on wines recommended monthly by buyers. The liquor specialty stores sell about 80 types of wine, 10 types of craft beer, and 20 types of whiskey, totaling around 120 kinds of alcoholic beverages.
