Samsung Electronics-SaranguiYeolmae 'Nanum and Dream' Project Call for Proposals Begins
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The Community Chest of Korea, also known as Sarangui Yeolmae, announced on the 5th that it is recruiting nonprofit organizations to participate in 'Nanum and Dream,' the largest social welfare contest project in Korea held in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. Any domestic nonprofit organization conducting welfare-related projects can apply, and applications can be submitted through the Nanum and Dream website until the 31st.
Started in 2016 and now in its 5th year, 'Nanum and Dream' is a social welfare contest project created to support nonprofit organizations that have good ideas but lack the resources to implement their projects, aiming to solve social problems. Up to the 4th contest held last year, a total of 40 billion KRW was provided to 207 nonprofit organizations over four years.
The application fields include welfare, educational independence, health care, employment, housing, culture, environment, and any projects that help solve related social issues are eligible to apply. Selected organizations will receive project funding ranging from up to 100 million KRW for one year to up to 300 million KRW for three years, depending on the nature of the project.
Applications can be submitted under two categories: 'Dream Projects,' which propose creative new solutions to social problems that have not been attempted before, and 'Nanum Projects,' which are existing projects that can enhance effectiveness through changes in implementation methods and delivery systems.
Additionally, starting this year, support is divided into 'Focused Themes' and 'Free Themes' based on the project content. The 'Focused Theme' projects are 'Child and Youth Education and Independence Support Projects,' which proactively identify and support social issues affecting the growth and independence of future generations. The 'Free Theme' projects allow organizations to freely propose activities necessary to effectively address welfare issues in local communities.
After document screening in September and interviews in October, the final selected nonprofit organizations will be announced at the end of November, with project funding starting from January next year.
Samsung Electronics stated that Nanum and Dream is a project that well embodies Samsung's CSR vision, 'Together to the Future! Enabling People,' and expressed hope to work with many nonprofit organizations pursuing social value.
