View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Steven Biegun, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State and Special Representative for North Korea, is scheduled to visit South Korea for a 3-day, 2-night trip next week, followed by a visit to Japan.
According to diplomatic sources on the 4th, Deputy Secretary Biegun plans to visit South Korea on the 7th and then travel to Tokyo, Japan.
After arriving in Seoul, Deputy Secretary Biegun is expected to hold a brief press conference and provide briefings to the Korean media.
It is also likely that Allison Hooker, Senior Director for Asia at the National Security Council (NSC) responsible for Korean Peninsula affairs from the White House, will accompany Deputy Secretary Biegun on this trip to South Korea. During their visit, they are expected to meet extensively with counterparts including Lee Do-hoon, Director General for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Blue House’s diplomatic and security teams.
