SK Telecom Helps Elementary Students Left Alone After School... Provides Childcare for 50 Children
[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] SK Telecom will provide care education for one year to 50 elementary school students who are alone after school. They will also implement the 'with' campaign to raise social awareness.
According to SK Telecom on the 2nd, the company plans to provide customized visiting education for a total of 50 children for one year starting from August. Fifty university student teachers selected through interviews will spend 2 hours once a week with the children, engaging in learning and play as well as outdoor activities such as autumn picnics and watching SK Knights basketball games.
SK Telecom explained that this is to help children left alone after school nurture their dreams and hopes. According to data from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, 7.7% of elementary school students nationwide spend 2.4 hours alone every day during the semester.
SK Telecom will also conduct an SNS campaign in July that anyone can easily participate in to raise social awareness about caring for elementary school students left alone after school. Those who wish to participate can upload a photo symbolizing the ‘W’ of ‘with’ on their personal Instagram along with the required hashtags '#위드챌린지' '#withchallenge' '#함께해요'.
SK Telecom plans to donate 30 million KRW for after-school child care education if the number of posts exceeds 2,020. Major professional and sponsored sports teams and coaching staff within the SK Group also sympathize with the purpose of this campaign and will actively participate through their team and personal SNS channels.
They will also operate a page within the ‘Happy Bean Donation Platform’. Among the campaign and donation participants, SK Telecom will provide limited edition 'with' goods such as bags, hats, and T-shirts co-created by singer Solbi and famous fashion designer Jaret (Lee Ji-yeon) to a total of 50 people by lottery. The winners will be announced on August 3.
