Seodaemun-gu Implements Organizational Restructuring After Passing Midterm of 7th Elected Term
New Departments Established Including Public-Private Cooperation, Participatory Budget, Community Care, Child Protection, and Underground Safety Teams... District Mayor Moon Seok-jin Urges Accelerated Progress on Key Projects at Executive Staff Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) has reorganized its organization to more dynamically promote key projects according to the district administration vision and pledges as it passes the midpoint of the 7th local government term.
Before the reorganization, the district office operated under the structure of ‘5 bureaus, 1 promotion team, 1 officer, 32 divisions, 146 teams, and 2 offices,’ which changed to ‘6 bureaus, 1 officer, 33 divisions, 152 teams, and 2 offices’ after the reorganization.
With the expiration of the existing Urban Regeneration Promotion Team, the district established the Urban Regeneration Bureau and placed four divisions within it: Urban Regeneration Division, Urban Redevelopment Division, Urban Planning Division, and Smart Information Division.
Additionally, new divisions and teams were created, including the Public-Private Cooperation Division, Participatory Budget Team, Community Care Team, Child Protection Team, Underground Safety Team, Climate Crisis Response Team, Green Energy Team, and Rental Business Management Team.
Furthermore, to more clearly reflect the main tasks of the teams, the Regulatory Reform Team was renamed the Legal Affairs Team, the Public Commercial Facility Operation Support Team became the Campus Town Revitalization Team, the Environmental Administration Team was changed to the Climate and Environmental Policy Team, and the U-Safety Management Team was renamed the Smart Control Team.
Outside the district office, there were no organizational changes in the District Council Secretariat, Public Health Center, Seodaemun Natural History Museum, and Community Service Centers.
Mayor Moon Seok-jin of Seodaemun-gu stated, “Through this reorganization, we will work harder to realize the district administration values and goals of ‘Beautiful Change, Open District Administration, and Happy City Seodaemun.’”
On the first day of the second half of the 7th local government term, the 1st, Mayor Moon held a meeting with senior officials and urged them to ensure thorough promotion of key projects.
Specifically, he requested accelerated progress on projects such as the school digitalization project, Hyeonjeo-dong Historical and Cultural Belt, Sinchon-dong Complex Office Building, Bukgajwa 2-dong Complex Office Building, Hongje Underground Pedestrian Network, Public Postpartum Care Center, Cheonyeon-dong Underground Parking Lot, Gyo-nam Underground Passage Life Culture Center, and the Sinchon Station Plaza Restructuring Project.

Additionally, on the 1st, he introduced Lee Jin-gu, the newly appointed Director of the Environmental Life Bureau who transferred from Seoul City, to the senior staff, expressing expectations for organic communication and smooth work promotion within the new organization.
