Jeonnam Police Conduct Third Raid on Mokpo Public Library Over Alleged Supply Corruption
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Police, investigating allegations of corruption in educational facility supplies, conducted another raid on the Mokpo Public Library, causing an uproar within the education authorities.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 1st, the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency's Intelligent Crime Investigation Unit sent investigators to the Mokpo Public Library's Operations Planning Department the previous day and seized all accounting-related documents.
Earlier, the police raided the blackout screen supplier and the Office of Education in June last year, and at the end of last month, they conducted a second raid targeting the headquarters' Facilities Division, Finance Division, and Naju Education Support Office.
The second and third raids are known to be investigating the possibility of staff involvement in corruption related to educational facility supplies, separate from the blackout screen supply case in June last year.
A police official stated, "Since the investigation is ongoing, we cannot disclose detailed information, but we are intensifying the investigation to conclude the blackout screen supply case as soon as possible."
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and Mokpo Public Library have begun to understand the circumstances of the case and prepare countermeasures following the police raids.
