Changwon City Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Myeongdong Marina Port Development
Leap Forward as a Marine Tourism Hub City Marking the 10th Anniversary of Integration

On the 30th, Changwon City announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the marina port development project at Myeongdong Marine Park in Jinhae-gu to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its integration.
About 200 people attended the event, including Mayor Heo Seong-mu of Changwon, National Assembly member Lee Dal-gon, and local residents.
Myeongdong in Jinhae was designated as a national hub marina port in 2013 under the government's marina industry promotion policy. After signing an implementation agreement between the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Changwon City in 2016, a construction company was selected last March.
The city will build infrastructure such as mooring facilities for 300 leisure vessels including yachts on 112,000㎡ around Myeongdong by 2022. The total project cost, including the outer breakwater completed in 2017, is 88.8 billion KRW, of which 28 billion KRW is supported by national funds.
The city plans to equip processing functions such as CIQ (Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine) to establish a national hub marina and build an international marina network to actively attract domestic and international marina users through exchanges with major marina ports in neighboring Northeast Asian countries.
