Seocho-gu Operates 'Summer Vacation Season Pet Dog Care Shelter'
Providing Care Support at Seocho Animal Love Center (Yangjae-dong) for Residents Struggling with Vacation Plans or Financial Difficulties... For Registered Pets in the Area, Applications Accepted from July 1 on a First-Come, First-Served Basis... Priority Given to Adoptive Families of Stray Dogs and Low-Income Households, Program Runs from July 26 to August 8
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) is operating the nation’s first-ever ‘Summer Vacation Period Companion Dog Care Shelter’ for households struggling with vacation plans due to their companion dogs or facing financial difficulties during the summer vacation season.
As the number of pet-owning households steadily increases, abandoned animals also rise annually, especially during the summer vacation period. This year, due to the economic difficulties caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), residents are worried about the high costs of using pet hotels when leaving home for extended periods.
In response, the district has prepared a ‘Companion Dog Care Service’ for residents during the summer vacation season.
Applications are accepted in person starting July 1st on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority is given to households adopting abandoned dogs and low-income families. The service will be operated at the ‘Seocho Animal Love Center’ (22 Yangjaecheon-ro 19-gil) from July 26th to August 8th.
Essential requirements include ▲companion dogs registered with animal registration and at least 4 months old (animal registration certificate) ▲companion dogs that are not pregnant, in heat, or ill ▲companion dogs vaccinated against rabies and contagious diseases (vaccination documents).
In particular, the pet sitters operating the animal shelter are experienced professionals with specialized certifications, ensuring peace of mind when entrusting your dog.
Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and a minimum fee of 5,000 KRW is charged for cleaning and disinfection when using the companion dog care service.
Since March 20th, the district has been leading animal protection efforts by operating the nation’s first ‘COVID-19 Temporary Companion Dog Care’ service, supporting companion dogs of confirmed and quarantined individuals.
Currently, care is being provided for the companion dog of one confirmed case in the area until the owner completes treatment.
Additionally, as part of the ‘Untact Animal Protection Campaign,’ the district plans to produce and distribute promotional videos on abandoned animal adoption and pet etiquette to guide owners and companion dogs to live safely and happily.
