Seocho-gu Conducts Untact Seoripul Global Experience Tour... Jo Eun-hee, Seocho-gu Mayor, Hopes to Contribute to Tourism Activation for Foreigners and Revitalize the Stagnant Floriculture Industry
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Cho) operated the 1st Untact Global Experience Tour for foreigners on June 19.
The Seoripul Global Experience Tour, a program where participants visit Seocho-gu's tourist attractions and experience various Korean cultural activities, was conducted non-face-to-face in line with the post-COVID-19 era.
"Because of COVID-19, I couldn't go out freely, so it was so nice to see flowers after a long time. If I get the chance, I want to participate again."
While Erin Han (female, 30s) from the United States was experiencing flower culture through a video call at her living room table, her young daughter was assembling the Seocho Baramui Eondeok 3D puzzle beside her.
The 'Seoripul Global Experience Tour' started in 2016 under the name 'Global Seocho Cultural Experience' and has had about 500 foreign participants to date, operating three experience courses (Course 1: Daeseongsa Temple - Korean traditional music experience, Course 2: Yangjae Flower Market - Flower culture experience, Course 3: Seocho Baramui Eondeok - Korean cuisine experience).
This year, due to COVID-19, the Seoripul Global Experience Tour, which had been temporarily halted, is now being operated non-face-to-face using remote video conferencing programs for foreigners residing in Korea who have fewer opportunities to experience Korean culture amid social distancing measures.
The remote video conferencing program can be accessed via laptops, tablet PCs, smartphones, etc., allowing participants to ask questions to instructors conducting classes in English and interact with other participants.
The participation fee is 15,000 KRW including delivery costs, with other additional expenses supported by the district office.
Currently, registration is underway for the 3rd Untact Seoripul Global Experience Tour scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 10.
To apply, download the application form from the Seocho-gu Office website by 7 p.m. on July 7 and submit it via email to the person in charge (eoshin@tothepp.com), or apply by phone or visit the Seocho Tourism Information Center.
Once registration is confirmed, participants will receive a remote video conferencing link, and fresh flowers from the aT Flower Wholesale Market, various materials, and the Seocho Baramui Eondeok 3D puzzle will be delivered to their homes by courier.
Seocho-gu plans to develop various Korean cultural experience courses utilizing Seocho's tourist attractions beyond flower culture experiences, providing diverse non-face-to-face experience tour opportunities tailored to the post-COVID-19 era.

Mayor Eunhee Cho stated, "We intended to operate the 'Seoripul Global Experience Tour,' a tourism activation program for foreigners that was suspended due to COVID-19, remotely to respond to changes in the post-COVID-19 era, and we hope it will also contribute to the flower industry, which has been stagnated due to cancellations of various events."
