[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Chunsu Kim] The Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency (Director Bae Jun-yeol and Chief Kang Seong-gyu) announced on the 29th that they held a meeting with the Wando-gun Women and Family Division Childcare and Child Team (Team Leader Jeong Gye-chang and Officer Choi Ki-hye) to establish a child protection system and promote public-private cooperation projects for children's rights enhancement.
This meeting was held to improve the public investigation of child abuse and the lack of infrastructure in the region following the reorganization of the child protection system.
Attendees from Wando-gun Office, Wando Education Support Office, Wando Police Station, and the Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency shared the necessity of building a network system and discussed the implementation of public-private cooperation projects to promote children's rights targeting island areas.
Based on this discussion, plans are underway to carry out children's rights promotion projects in collaboration with Wando-gun Office, focusing on establishing a network system and addressing the geographic accessibility challenges in island regions.
Bae Jun-yeol, Director of the Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency, said, "This meeting was a valuable opportunity to share the importance of establishing a child protection system," and added, "We will strengthen the social safety net so that children can live healthily and happily through active cooperation with related organizations."
Jeong Gye-chang, Team Leader of the Wando-gun Women and Family Division Childcare and Child Team, stated, "Through this project, we hope to establish a child protection system in island areas and raise awareness about child abuse and rights," and added, "We will actively participate to ensure smooth progress of projects for children in cooperation with the Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency."

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency was established under Article 45 (Establishment of Child Protection Agencies) of the Child Welfare Act, and according to Article 46, it intervenes in necessary matters such as discovery, protection, counseling, and treatment of abused children in the region, protecting children from abuse and conducting specialized child welfare projects to support healthy growth.
