Hyundai Engineering Hosts 'Smart Construction Technology Contest in Architecture & Housing'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Engineering announced on the 29th that it will hold the 'Smart Construction Technology Contest in the Architecture & Housing Sector' aimed at expanding the base of smart construction technology and open innovation for small and medium-sized enterprises, university (graduate) students, and research institutions.
The contest theme is 'Smart Construction Technology in the Architecture & Housing Sector Applying 4th Industrial Revolution Technologies.' The contest is divided into two categories: immediately applicable technologies and technologies requiring development.
The detailed technologies eligible for submission include ▲ BIM (Building Information Modeling) ▲ Construction management platforms ▲ Artificial Intelligence (AI) ▲ Big Data ▲ Internet of Things (IoT) ▲ Sensors ▲ Drones ▲ 3D scanning ▲ 3D printing ▲ Off-site construction (including modular and PC) ▲ Construction automation robots ▲ Augmented Reality (AR) · Virtual Reality (VR), covering 12 fields.
Applicants can download the idea proposal form from Hyundai Engineering’s official blog and submit it via email along with the required documents. Submitted technology proposals will undergo a rigorous evaluation process based on various criteria such as technical feasibility, planning, practicality, and business potential. Selected individuals and companies will receive support including test bed assistance for technology verification, joint research, patent application support, and commercialization support.
This smart construction technology contest was launched as part of Hyundai Engineering’s '2025 Smart Construction Technology Vision Roadmap' and as an initiative for open innovation. It aims to gather both immediately applicable technologies and those requiring mid- to long-term development to contribute to cost reduction and productivity improvement on-site, secure core technologies for differentiated competitiveness, and help Hyundai Engineering lead the smart construction technology sector.

A Hyundai Engineering official stated, "Through this contest, we intend to fully support various creative and promising smart construction ideas and technologies to shine," adding, "Through internal and external technology convergence and active research and development (R&D), Hyundai Engineering will strive to leap forward as the 'Top Tier in Domestic Smart Construction Technology.'"
