Donggeol Lee and Monggyu Chung's Sudden Meeting... A New Phase in Asiana Airlines Acquisition
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Lee Dong-geol, Chairman of KDB Industrial Bank, and Chung Mong-gyu, Chairman of HDC Hyundai Development Company, held a face-to-face meeting to discuss the acquisition of Asiana Airlines.
According to financial sources on the 26th, Chairman Lee and Chairman Chung met for about an hour yesterday afternoon at an undisclosed location in Seoul.
It was reported that Chairman Lee said at the meeting, "If HDC Hyundai Development decides, we will support all possible areas that the Industrial Bank can assist."
The meeting appears to have been arranged in response to Chairman Lee's demand for a 'face-to-face negotiation.'
Earlier, at a press conference on the 17th, Chairman Lee urged Hyundai Development to come to the negotiation table directly and actively engage in negotiations, saying, "We talked about written consultations, but this is not a 1960s romance, so why exchange letters?"
In the market, there is speculation that the acquisition negotiations for Asiana Airlines have entered a new phase, as the meeting took place just two days before the deal closing date (June 27).
