Boseong-gun, Inspection of Summer Natural Disaster Response Status
County Governor Kim Cheol-woo Holds Countermeasure Meeting, Orders "Thorough Proactive Damage Prevention"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yongchul] Boseong-gun, Jeonnam announced that on the 26th, it held the ‘2020 Summer Natural Disaster Response Status Inspection Meeting’ chaired by County Governor Kim Cheolwoo to proactively prepare for summer natural disasters and minimize damage when disasters occur, and inspected the construction status at each department’s sites.
Governor Kim Cheolwoo urged, “Since disaster prevention is best done in advance, please thoroughly inspect high-risk areas such as large construction sites to prepare for heavy rain in advance and ensure safety management to prevent any damage.” He also said, “Not only construction sites but also village inspection teams should be organized to focus on damage prevention by inspecting drainage channels in houses and greenhouses and organizing stored items in front of buildings.”
Currently, Boseong-gun has entered 24-hour situation management to prepare for summer natural disasters by ▲organizing situation management systems, ▲cooperating with related organizations, ▲inspecting facilities and establishing various safety management measures, and ▲revising action manuals.
In particular, in preparation for the rainy season and heavy rain in May, pre-inspections were conducted on disaster prevention sites and vulnerable areas, and to prepare for urban flooding, operations such as rainwater storage facilities and drainage pump stations training were carried out to minimize damage from heavy rain and typhoons, maintaining a full readiness posture.
A county official said, “According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, multiple heavy rain events are expected this year, so we are frequently inspecting disaster-vulnerable areas.” He added, “We plan to actively promote various damage prevention measures such as organizing an emergency response team called ‘Our Village, Our Protection’ to maintain village drainage.”
