Installation of Electronic Fingerprint Registration Scanners in All 20 Neighborhood Community Centers in Gangseo-gu, Seoul
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will install 'electronic fingerprint registration scanners' that allow easy fingerprint registration when issuing new resident registration cards at all 20 community service centers.
The existing method for issuing new resident registration cards involved applying special ink to the applicant's fingerprints and stamping them on paper, which caused inconvenience due to having to remove ink from the hands and discomfort from physical contact.
Electronic registration using fingerprint scanners works by placing the applicant's fingerprint on the scanner, which automatically inputs the fingerprint image into the resident registration system.
With the introduction of the 'electronic fingerprint registration scanner,' the district expects to reduce applicants' inconvenience by capturing clearer fingerprints and significantly shortening the issuance time.
Additionally, concerns about losing application forms will disappear, and cooperation with the police station will be faster, leading to more efficient work processing.
This year, 4,717 people aged 17 are eligible for new resident registration cards, and as of May, 2,921 have received their cards.
