*Prime Minister Boris Johnson
Seventy years ago, during the Korean War, dozens of Firefly and Spitfire carrier-based fighter planes took off from the deck of the HMS Triumph aircraft carrier, marking the beginning of the United Kingdom's participation in the war. Before the armistice agreement was signed, more than 80,000 British Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel fought to protect the Republic of Korea from the threat of communist forces. Among them, thousands of British soldiers never returned home. However, looking at the Republic of Korea today, I feel that their sacrifice was never in vain. The Republic of Korea honors those who sacrificed their lives through peaceful achievements. Just as it was 70 years ago, the United Kingdom stands with the Republic of Korea today as well.
