Among STEM fields, successful candidates include not only those in computer-related fields but also those majoring in robotics, machinery, energy, optical technology, medical, life sciences, cultural contents, which are related to Gwangju’s strategic industries and have high potential for convergence with artificial intelligence technology.

For humanities majors, many applied because they had a strong interest in computers from a young age or recently developed an interest in artificial intelligence technology and sought new career paths. Their majors are diverse, including law, philosophy, psychology, and fashion design, drawing attention to how each will utilize AI technology in their respective fields after completing the training.

Additionally, among the successful candidates, there were workers who have years of experience in advanced industries such as semiconductors, machine control, and 3D printing at large corporations or are currently employed in such fields.

The successful candidates will complete enrollment registration by the 30th and will have an entrance ceremony and orientation on the 2nd of next month at the 12th-floor Grand Ballroom of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Promotion Agency.

Following this, they will complete 320 hours of intermediate and advanced courses by August, covering artificial intelligence algorithms, machine learning, deep learning, big data analysis, and cloud computing services. From September to November, they will conduct 480 hours of AI convergence project practice focused on specialized industries and public sectors such as automobiles, energy, healthcare, and cultural contents.

The training is organized by the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency (Director Tak Yong-seok), an information and communication promotion institution, with participation from LikeLion (CEO Lee Doo-hee), renowned for innovative coding education in university areas in the Seoul metropolitan area.

Son Kyung-jong, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Bureau, said, “AI technology is a general-purpose technology that can be applied in countless fields from agriculture to advanced industries, so we expect many people with diverse academic backgrounds.
