Unified Party Voices on the 'InGukGong Incident'... "Government Taking Umbrellas Away While It's Raining"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The United Future Party is also actively voicing opposition to the backlash from youth and others triggered by the conversion of irregular workers to regular employees at Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC). Discussions are being held at the emergency countermeasure committee level, and the group 'Yojumgeotdeul Research Institute,' led by Representative Ha Tae-kyung and others, is addressing the IIAC incident as its first issue since its launch.
On the 25th, according to United Future Party spokesperson Bae Jun-young, during the emergency committee meeting that day, Chairman Kim stated regarding the IIAC incident, "It is time to review irregular workers not only limited to public enterprises but more broadly regarding the issue of regular and irregular workers," adding, "In the case of Incheon International Airport Corporation, didn't these events occur just three days after President Moon's visit, when promises were supposed to be kept?"
In this regard, the United Future Party plans to focus on the process rather than simply criticizing the fact that irregular workers became regular employees. Spokesperson Bae said, "During the emergency committee discussion, the issue raised was whether it is fair that those employed before President Moon's visit are considered to have received favors, while stricter standards are applied afterward," and "It was also pointed out that those who joined before the President's visit are exempt from the job competency test (NCS)." Kim Jae-seop, a youth member of the emergency committee, will conduct an in-depth briefing on this issue within the day.
United Future Party spokesperson Kim Eun-hye commented, "This government, with 22 hasty real estate policies, has crushed the dreams of the 30s and 40s who want to own a home, and by insisting on the first field pledge to eliminate irregular workers in the public sector during its term, it is dropping bombs on youth employment," adding, "A government that takes away umbrellas when it rains. The Moon Jae-in administration is sending a message of despair to our society that working hard is useless."
Regarding Chief Presidential Secretary for Job Creation Hwang Deok-soon's radio broadcast response that "this is an effort not to take away youth jobs but to increase them," the party criticized it as "cold-hearted," stating, "A government that prides itself on high emotional intelligence (EQ) sounds like it is drawing a line blaming job seekers as the source of misunderstanding and jealousy rather than showing empathy."
Representative Ha also criticized on Facebook, "The Chief Presidential Secretary for Job Creation cannot distinguish between foul play and fairness. The Blue House committed large-scale employment corruption and is boasting about doing a great job." The youth issue specialist group 'Yojumgeotdeul Research Institute,' launched on the 29th with Ha at its center, will also address the IIAC incident as its first issue.
