Dongguk University × Seorae-ro Mutual Aid Project
Dongguk University Startup Club Leads 'Seorodopgi Prepayment Campaign' Around Seoraero... Use at Participating Stores After Prepayment Until July 7 and Following 2nd Semester Start
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Yang-ho) sent encouragement to Dongguk University students who are carrying out the Seo-ae-ro commercial district revitalization project, the "Mutual Support Prepayment Campaign," to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Seo-ae-ro area near the back gate of Dongguk University in Jung-gu, Seoul, is a representative university shopping street frequented by Dongguk University students, with various restaurants and cafes. However, as COVID-19 has prolonged without end, the number of students visiting has decreased significantly for more than six months since the end of last winter semester, worsening the damage to the shops in this area.
In response, Dongguk University students, centered around the Entrepreneurship Club of the Department of Management Information Systems (President Kim Deok-yong), are conducting the "Mutual Support Prepayment Campaign." Facing difficulties due to prolonged revenue decline, Dongguk University members have joined forces to revitalize the Seo-ae-ro commercial district.
As the name suggests, the prepayment system allows participants to prepay any desired amount at one of the approximately 40 participating stores from now until July 7, and then use it at the respective store after the second semester begins on September 2.
Upon prepayment, a mobile gift certificate in the form of a gifticon is issued, and a surprise service is provided when a certain amount of the prepaid amount is used. The service contents vary by store, and if more than 100,000 KRW is spent, a slightly more special service is offered.

Seo Yang-ho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "Seo-ae-ro area has many affordable and delicious restaurants frequented by many Dongguk University students. The owners are all generous. Students who were worried that these shops might close and that part of their university life might disappear voluntarily planned this project. I appreciate and am grateful for the students' thoughtful spirit. Although these are difficult times for everyone, I hope many participate so that the local commercial district can regain vitality."
