The Criminal Division 10 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Do-wan) summoned Lee Jong-bae, the representative of the civic group "Action Alliance for Establishing the Rule of Law" (Beopse-ryeon), as a complainant around 2 p.m. on the 24th and is currently investigating him.
On the 16th, Beopse-ryeon filed a complaint against Lee, accusing her of making a false claim during the April 15 general election period that she was a victim included in the 'judiciary blacklist' who suffered disadvantages in personnel evaluations during the tenure of former Chief Justice Yang Sung-tae, thereby violating the Public Official Election Act by spreading false information.
When Lee was recruited as a talent by the Democratic Party earlier this year, she stated that she was a victim of the judiciary blacklist who suffered disadvantages in personnel evaluations during former Chief Justice Yang's tenure.
However, the turning point came when Kim Yeon-hak, a presiding judge who appeared as a witness at the trial of former Chief Justice Yang on the 3rd, testified that there was no personnel disadvantage related to the 2017 personnel matters that Lee claimed were retaliatory actions by the Yang Supreme Court, and that Lee's work competency was insufficient.
Judge Kim served as the Chief Personnel Review Officer of the Court Administration Office from the time of former Chief Justice Lee Yong-hoon through former Chief Justice Yang Sung-tae.
Subsequently, Lee posted on her Facebook, "She is one of the top candidates for impeachment among judges. I will promptly push for the impeachment of judges involved in judicial manipulation." In response, Beopse-ryeon filed an additional complaint with the prosecution on the 9th, claiming that Lee's statement constituted a threat.
At that time, Beopse-ryeon argued, "To talk about the impeachment of a judge simply because one feels insulted by a witness's testimony given conscientiously and according to conscience in court denies the separation of powers and is a dangerously reckless idea that undermines the rule of law."
