View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon National University announced on the 24th that it held a plaque ceremony for the ‘Smart Manufacturing Innovation Leading University Project Group’ in front of the university's Comprehensive Education Building and has begun full-scale operation of the project group.
The plaque ceremony was attended by about 50 people, including Lee Ho-young, president of Changwon National University, faculty and staff, consortium officials including Gyeongnam Province, and executives and employees of companies.
This project is implemented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation to promote the ‘2020 Smart Manufacturing Advanced Workforce Training Project,’ and Changwon National University was finally selected as the overall supervising institution in April.
The project is being carried out as the third year of the first phase starting in 2020. Changwon National University serves as the overall supervising institution, and the consortium includes local governments such as Gyeongnam Province and Changwon City, universities including Gyeongnam University and Munseong University, and innovation institutions such as the Gyeongnam Changwon Industry-Academia Convergence Center and the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute.

Lee Ho-young, president of Changwon National University, said, “Through the establishment of a cooperative system between the university and consortium participating institutions, we will achieve manufacturing innovation and smartization in the Changwon National Industrial Complex, the core of Korea’s manufacturing and machinery industries.” He added, “Through this, we expect Gyeongnam Province and the Changwon region to be reborn as a future-oriented national industrial complex leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
