"Decorate Your Office Like a Garden"…Incheon City Supports 'Office Gardening' Installation
Applications open until the 3rd of next month... 40 organizations including non-profits and public institutions selected
Retired senior experts involved, free design and construction support provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is recruiting companies that wish to install 'Office Gardening,' an eco-friendly transformation of workspaces using flowers and plants for workers who spend more time at work than at home.
The city plans to accept applications until the 3rd of next month and select 20 small and medium-sized enterprises and 20 non-profit or public institutions.
Experts in their middle-aged years with over 10 years of experience will visit these companies and institutions to provide free office gardening design and construction tailored to the industry and space characteristics. Work can be done in all indoor and outdoor spaces.
Additionally, they will conduct maintenance such as repotting existing plants, rearrangement, and provide education on plant care. However, the material costs must be borne by the respective institutions.
Office Gardening is a compound word of 'office' and 'gardening,' referring to creating and maintaining a garden-like space in a corner or unused area of an office. It is effective for controlling office humidity and purifying the air, and research shows it helps stabilize workers' mental health, thereby improving work performance.
The city is promoting the Office Gardening project by linking the 'Middle-aged Social Contribution Support Project,' which enables retired middle-aged individuals (aged 50 to 70) to donate their talents to the community, and the 'Middle-aged Career Utilization Regional Service Project,' which involves experienced professionals in public interest projects.
