Kia Motors Unveils Exterior Design of 4th Generation Carnival Shedding 'Minivan Image'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia Motors unveiled the exterior design of the 4th generation Carnival on the 24th. From this day forward, Kia plans to continuously post the Carnival's signature design and various detailed images on its website.
The 4th generation Carnival adopts the exterior design concept of ‘Grand Volume,’ breaking away from the typical minivan to emphasize a bold yet sophisticated appearance.
The front of the new Carnival embodies a futuristic image. The evolved radiator grille seamlessly connects with the headlamps without boundaries, giving a luxurious and grand impression. Notably, the daytime running lights (DRL) feature a visual representation of rhythm and beat. Additionally, the hood with added volume through character lines and the sleek bumper design further emphasize the futuristic image.
The side maintains the design heritage of the previous Carnival while incorporating unique elements. With dimensions of 5155mm in length, 1995mm in width, and 1740mm in height, the new model is 40mm longer and 10mm wider than its predecessor, creating a more dynamic and grand exterior. The wheelbase has been extended by 30mm to 3090mm, enhancing interior space usability, including increased legroom.
Kia explained that the side character line, which runs as a single line from the headlamps to the rear lamps, imparts a sense of speed and vitality. In particular, the rail section that moves when the sliding door opens aligns with the character line to enhance design unity.
The rear features a wide and grand appearance based on connectivity with the front. The slim rear combination lamps, connected left to right, are designed with graphics matching the shape of the front daytime running lights, providing a sense of unity. Especially, the graphic bar connecting the rear combination lamps accentuates the sophisticated feel of the new Carnival when illuminated.
Along with this, Kia designed the vehicle lettering of the new Carnival in cursive script to maximize luxury and sophistication.
A Kia representative stated, “With a bold and presence-filled exterior design, we have realized a high-quality sensibility that could not be felt in a typical minivan. The new Carnival has been perfectly reborn not only with attractive design but also as a connecting hub that integrates Kia’s cutting-edge technology, connecting and caring for people and vehicles as a premium space.”
