Jeongeup-si, Regulatory Innovation Idea Contest

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk announced on the 23rd that it will hold a contest for regulatory innovation ideas until August 10th to improve unreasonable regulations felt in citizens' daily lives and business activities.

The contest targets six areas: ▲public welfare ▲daily life ▲strengthening public safety ▲employment and jobs ▲support for self-employed and small business owners ▲new industries.

Any administrative regulation that causes inconvenience in citizens' daily lives or hinders business activities can be proposed in any category, and anyone who is a citizen of Jeongeup or a company located in Jeongeup can apply.

Applicants can download the application form from the ‘Notices/Announcements’ section of the Jeongeup City website under ‘2020 Jeongeup City Regulatory Innovation Idea Contest,’ fill it out, and submit it via email or mail.

The city will select a total of 10 outstanding projects through evaluation and award a total prize of 2 million KRW (1 grand prize of 700,000 KRW, 2 excellence prizes of 300,000 KRW each, and 7 encouragement prizes of 100,000 KRW each).

The results will be announced in September after a comprehensive evaluation of creativity, feasibility, and effectiveness.

Selected outstanding projects that can be resolved through local ordinances will be promptly revised, and projects requiring amendments to laws will be actively proposed to relevant central government agencies for improvement.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “Through this contest, we will discover and improve various unreasonable regulations to revive the local economy weakened by COVID-19 and contribute to resolving citizens' inconveniences,” adding, “We ask for the active interest and participation of companies and citizens.”
