Woori Financial Group Delivers Scholarships to Descendants of UN War Veterans

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Financial Group announced on the 23rd that it held a ‘UN Veterans Descendants Scholarship Award Ceremony’ in commemoration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June and the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, and donated 100 million KRW in scholarships to the ‘Korean War Memorial Foundation’ through the ‘70th Anniversary of the Korean War Project Promotion Committee.’
The ceremony, held the previous day at Woori Financial Group’s headquarters in Hoehyeon-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Sohn Tae-seung, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, Kim Eun-gi, Co-Chairman of the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War Project Promotion Committee, and university students who are direct descendants of UN veterans studying in Korea.
This event was organized to express gratitude to the UN veterans on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War by supporting the education of their descendants. The scholarships will be awarded to 20 university students who are descendants of UN veterans studying in Korea and 120 elementary, middle, and high school students from six participating countries.

Chairman Sohn said, “Woori Financial Group wishes to express its gratitude to the UN veterans who dedicated themselves to the freedom and peace of the unfamiliar country, the Republic of Korea, and now intends to repay that grace to their descendants,” adding, “We will continue to take the lead in sharing activities for the patriotic heroes who sacrificed for the country.”
