Shinhan Financial Group Establishes Digilog Committee to Lead 'New Digital Finance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 22nd that it will actively promote the Digilog business to lead new digital finance, one of the three core directions of the 'Shinhan N.E.O. Project.'
In line with the government's 'Digital New Deal' policy, Shinhan Financial plans to establish the 'Digilog Committee,' chaired by Chairman Cho Yong-byeong, to discuss and support the execution of the group's key digital business agendas. CEOs of seven group companies will participate as committee members. Through this, Shinhan Financial aims to accelerate the group's data business initiatives and expand investments in startup incubation programs.
Additionally, Shinhan Financial will expand the number of group companies participating in the 'Digital Core Technology Patronage System' from six to ten. This system focuses on selecting and concentrating on five core technologies and new business areas: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud, Blockchain, and Healthcare, serving as the core of the group's digital leadership.
Shinhan Financial also plans to enhance its talent development system by establishing a 'Group Joint Digital Education System' based on a detailed competency model. This system will create a cyclical framework where training and workforce management are organically linked by building joint education programs in necessary fields such as future new technologies, digital finance, AI, and blockchain.
By the end of July, Shinhan Financial will establish a roadmap for building the group joint digital education system. Starting in August, practical work will proceed to build the education system, including establishing digital talent profiles, setting required competencies according to job-related digital relevance, developing digital education curricula, and conducting digital level diagnosis and evaluation.
Furthermore, to secure future growth technologies and respond to big tech innovation, Shinhan Financial will expand the operation of 'SDII,' the group's digital technology repository and integrated research and development (R&D) center. To this end, an 'SDII Secretariat' will be established to handle administrative and operational support, and recruitment of experts for digital new technology project planning will be increased.
Also, by creating the 'SDII R&D Council,' Shinhan Financial plans to strengthen SDII's role as the group's R&D center by participating in various digital projects of group companies and performing technical support activities.
