Gyeonggi Arts Center Launches 'Digital Performance Information Development' Initiative
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Arts Center is promoting a performance information 'Digital Archive' project.
The performance information digital archive is a place that converts various performance-related materials and collections into digital information for preservation, essentially serving as an online information repository.
Gyeonggi Arts Center established a three-phase performance information archive promotion plan in 2019 and recently completed the first phase and entered the second phase, it announced on the 22nd. This project will continue until 2021.
The second phase focuses on expanding content discovery while simultaneously building a service system that allows the general public to browse, search, and use the materials.
Once the archive is established, residents will be able to enjoy performance content without spatial restrictions, and workers and artists will always have access to a platform for creation and exchange. Additionally, educational institutions, students, and researchers will be able to actively utilize various research and educational materials from the archive.
A Gyeonggi Arts Center official explained, "The archive system is different from simply building a database," adding, "It is not just about preserving and servicing performance materials, but by utilizing this system, various secondary services such as online content production, video streaming service activation, and exhibition planning can be realized."
Since its opening in 1991 as a cultural and arts hall under Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi Arts Center has led the performance arts culture of Gyeonggi Province for over 30 years by managing five performance organizations: Gyeonggi Provincial Theater Company, Gyeonggi Provincial Dance Company, Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra, Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, and Gyeonggi Pops Ensemble.
