Direct Market for Excellent Agricultural and Specialty Products from Gangwon-do Held at Junggye Neighborhood Park in Nowon-gu
From the 25th to 27th, Over 170 Excellent Agricultural and Specialty Products from Gangwon-do Sold at Prices Cheaper than Market Rates
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will hold the ‘Roll! Potato Expedition’ Gangwon-do direct transaction market at Junggye Neighborhood Park for three days from the 25th to the 27th.
The direct transaction market will feature 21 stores from 14 cities and counties including Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, setting up 36 sales booths including a special truck for Hoengseong Hanwoo beef.
Additionally, there will be markets offering local foods and representative delicacies from various regions of Gangwon-do.
At the market, over 170 excellent agricultural and specialty products produced in Gangwon-do, such as new potatoes, perilla oil, sesame oil, dried seafood, mushrooms, and soybean paste, will be sold at prices lower than the market rate.
Events are also prepared. There will be a bomb sale of Gangwon-do’s representative specialty, new potatoes, and free photo printing services for 50 customers per day.
Especially, customers who participate in the SNS (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) shopping certification event will receive eco-bags, and 50 customers per day who purchase over 50,000 KRW will be given Gangwon-do specialty products.
The market will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and card payments are accepted.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), hand sanitizers are placed at both entrances of the market, and eight volunteers conduct temperature checks. The district office urged residents to wear personal masks and maintain social distancing to comply with daily quarantine rules.
Meanwhile, the Gangwon-do direct transaction market has been continuously held since 2011, providing residents with trustworthy local food from production areas and contributing to the revitalization of rural economies through exchanges between urban and rural areas.

District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “This direct transaction market is intended to help Gangwon-do farmers whose consumption has sharply declined due to COVID-19 and to provide residents with affordable and fresh local food. We ask for active participation in the direct transaction market.”
