Gwangju City Recruiting for the 4th Term Bitgoeul Youth Safety Guardians
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 18th that it is recruiting the 4th term of Bitgoeul Youth Safety Guardians for local youth aged 13 to 18 until the 30th.
The Bitgoeul Youth Safety Guardians will use the Safe Report app to report safety hazards around schools and daily life, propose ideas related to safety, and engage in related activities.
Since 2016, Gwangju has annually organized and operated the Bitgoeul Youth Safety Guardians to provide healthy social activity opportunities for youth and to spread the safety culture movement.
Youth who wish to participate can fill out the application forms distributed by the city to each school and submit them to their respective schools, or download the submission documents from the city’s website under Notices and Announcements, complete them, and submit via email.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the city will replace the annual launch ceremony with online education on how to use the Safe Report app through the KakaoTalk channel, and plans to maintain active communication with participants throughout the activity period.
Youth with outstanding activity performance will receive incentives such as the mayor’s commendation and prizes at the end of the year. Additionally, a participation event will be held next month, where participants who submit two or more Safe Report reports will receive a small souvenir.

Jung Min-gon, Director of the City’s Citizen Safety Office, said, “To prevent disasters and accidents large and small, it is important to cultivate safety sensitivity from youth regarding various hazards around daily life that might otherwise be overlooked. Since all activities are safely conducted non-face-to-face through applications and SNS, we hope that youth, who have been restrained due to COVID-19, will actively participate in activities for the local community.”
