Nowon-gu, Recruiting Group Members for Eco Mileage
Companies, Religious Organizations, Small Business Owners, and More Invited to Join Eco Mileage Group Membership... Energy Saving Performance Evaluation Over Four Months from This Month to September
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is recruiting eco-mileage group members to respond to climate change and fine dust, and to raise residents' awareness of energy saving.
Eco-mileage is a compound word of eco (eco-friendly) and mileage (accumulate), and is a representative resident-participation energy-saving policy that provides incentives when saving energy such as electricity, water, and city gas.
The target group members for registration are ▲business sites such as companies and corporations ▲welfare and educational institutions ▲religious organizations ▲small business owners, etc. If the usage of two or more types of energy (electricity [mandatory], city gas, water, district heating) during six months after joining is reduced by 10% or more compared to the average usage for the same period in the past two years based on greenhouse gas emissions, an incentive of up to 50,000 mileage points is provided.
Also, from this month to September, the district will evaluate energy-saving performance during the four summer months and select excellent groups to provide incentives up to 10 million KRW.
The evaluation score is out of 100 points, calculated comprehensively by greenhouse gas emission reduction rate compared to the average value of the previous two years (40 points), greenhouse gas reduction amount by energy usage scale (40 points), and excellent practice cases such as solar power installation and education (20 points).
The district will conduct a preliminary review of energy-saving groups in December. Groups will be excluded from evaluation if natural reduction is due to office vacancy or business closure, if energy-saving practice cases are not submitted, or if there is duplicate support.
After the final evaluation, excellent groups will be selected in January 2021. Awards will be given by energy usage scale (TOE) divided into four criteria: ▲10 or more to less than 50 ▲50 or more to less than 200 ▲200 or more to less than 1000 ▲1000 or more, selecting top, excellent, and encouraging groups. Energy usage scale (TOE) corresponds to the amount of energy equivalent to one ton of oil, which is the amount of electricity a typical household (280 kWh/month) can use for about one year and four months.
Also, even if not selected as an excellent group, if the greenhouse gas reduction rate is 10% or more, Onnuri gift certificates worth 50,000 to 100,000 KRW will be provided according to the criteria.
The district plans to pay incentives to the representative accounts of the finally selected excellent groups later.
Eco-mileage group members can join if the group is located in Seoul, and can register through the Eco-mileage website or by visiting a nearby community service center.
Currently, a total of 88 groups (17 apartments, 45 buildings, 26 schools) have been selected as excellent eco-mileage groups in Nowon-gu, and the district has paid a total of 465.5 million KRW in incentives.
