The launching ceremony was hosted by the Southeast Headquarters of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute and sponsored by Gyeongnam Province. Participants included Kim Young-sam, Director of Industrial Innovation at the provincial government, Hwang Yoon-gil, Secretary of the Automobile and Aviation Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Cho Young-jin, First Vice Mayor of Changwon City, and more than 60 attendees from the private sector such as domestic automakers Hyundai, Renault Samsung, Ssangyong, universities, research institutes, companies, and regional technoparks located in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.
The province plans to form a joint consultative body of automobile experts and industry-academia-research institutions in the Southeast region to lead private cooperation in discovering new projects for fostering the regional automobile industry and responding to national projects amid domestic and international changes in the automobile industry. Furthermore, it aims to develop this into a Southeast regional automobile industry consultative body encompassing Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.

Additionally, the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Automobile Industry Promotion Committee' will be operated with an executive committee of 20 industry-academia-research experts centered on the Southeast Headquarters of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, and six subcommittees totaling 50 members covering infrastructure, technology development, new technology transfer, crisis response, workforce training, and legal systems.
