The intention is to optimize production and management activities using digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud to strengthen future competitiveness.
To this end, LG Group has established dedicated digital transformation teams in major affiliates such as LG Electronics and LG Chem, is converting more than 90% of IT systems to the cloud, and is preparing to introduce work support robots and software standards.
The new employee recruitment method will also shift from the previous regular recruitment in the first and second half of the year to a year-round continuous selection system starting from the second half of this year. With this change in the recruitment system, business departments can directly select the talent they need through recruitment announcements at their desired times.
Through this, the company expects to secure necessary talent centered on the field in a timely manner and place them appropriately to respond agilely to changes in the management environment and technology. LG plans to actively prioritize securing excellent talent from a mid- to long-term perspective rather than immediate manpower supply in preparation for growth after the COVID-19 crisis.
In addition, LG Group is proactively managing risks by preparing response strategies for supply chains, production, and sales according to various scenarios due to supply disruptions and demand slowdown in anticipation of the global spread and prolongation of COVID-19. As part of this response, the group has reduced the semi-annual business report meeting, which was directly chaired by LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, to once a year in the second half, and is increasing the number of regular strategy meetings where direct reports from affiliates are received.
