[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education announced on the 15th that it will publish the list of successful candidates for the 2020 1st Elementary, Middle, and High School Equivalency Exams held on the 23rd of last month on the Office of Education website on the 16th.
In this equivalency exam, in the elementary school section, 56 out of 64 applicants took the exam, with 52 passing, resulting in a pass rate of 92.86%. In the middle school section, 195 out of 227 applicants took the exam, with 147 passing (pass rate 75.38%), and in the high school section, 814 out of 1000 applicants took the exam, with 597 passing (pass rate 73.34%).
Among the successful candidates, 66 out of 75 incarcerated individuals passed (88%), and 3 out of 4 disabled individuals passed (75%), demonstrating a high pass rate despite difficult educational conditions and their persistent efforts in studies.
The highest scores were achieved by Lee (19 years old) in the high school section and Choi (13 years old) in the middle school section, both receiving perfect scores in all subjects. In the elementary school section, Go (11 years old) scored the highest with 97.50 points. The oldest successful candidate was Jeong (78 years old), who took the high school equivalency exam. Park (77 years old, female), who took the middle school equivalency exam, and Joo (68 years old, female), who took the elementary school equivalency exam, also showed passionate academic enthusiasm despite their advanced age.

Certificates of passing will be issued from the 16th to the 26th at the Pohang, Andong, and Gumi Education Support Offices, which are the exam locations. Individual scores of applicants can be checked on the Gyeongbuk Office of Education website from the 16th to the 26th.
