Jungnang-gu Provides 1 Million Support for Parent Clubs
From June 24 to July 3, 30 Parent Clubs Open for Applications, Support Up to 1 Million KRW... Strengthening Village Education Community Capacity through Parent Network Participation and Parent Academy
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is calling for applications for the Parent Club Support Project from June 24 to July 3 as part of the 2020 Jungnang Innovation Education District initiative.
The recruitment targets are 30 parent clubs consisting of five or more parents from local elementary, middle, and high schools who aim to form a village education community together with children and youth.
Selected clubs will receive subsidies of up to 1 million KRW, and the results will be announced at the end of July.
Selected clubs must conduct at least seven activities and participate in the ‘Parent Network’ to exchange activities and achievements with other clubs, supporting each other's growth.
Participation in the Parent Academy and Innovation Education Expo, scheduled for the second half of this year, is also encouraged. At the Parent Academy, parents can receive training to strengthen their capabilities, and at the Innovation Education Expo, they will have opportunities to communicate with local education stakeholders by operating experience booths directly.
Applications can be submitted by preparing the required documents and visiting the Education Support Division on the 4th floor of Jungnang-gu Office or by email (hh12345@citizen.seoul.kr).
Last year, 20 parent clubs were selected and actively engaged in creating a healthy educational ecosystem. This year, 10 more teams will be selected to establish a solid parent network and actively support parents to grow as governance agents of the Innovation Education District project.
The district was first designated as the Jungnang Innovation Education District last year, investing about 1.5 billion KRW in innovation education projects and is currently constructing the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center with a budget of 7.3 billion KRW.
Also, this year, the education budget has been expanded to 6 billion KRW, ranking 4th among Seoul’s autonomous districts. The budget will increase by 1 billion KRW annually, aiming to reach 8 billion KRW by 2022 to strengthen educational competitiveness.
